One of the most underserved group of legitimate psychiatric patients are victims of anxiety who are already on benzodiazepines used under FDA approval but are now summarily abandoned by their providers out of fear of sanction from licensure agencies. These same entities 20 years ago chastised providers for under prescribing medication for suffering patients. Now the government blames providers for substance abuse in America. Our clinic will compassionately treat abandoned patients to prevent acute withdrawal with high risk for DT’s and other medical emergencies. Patients should not be forced to use street drugs to prevent a medical emergency. If our providers determine benzodiazepines are appropriate as the original prescribers determined, then those meds can be continued as long as the patient takes them as prescribed. Continuation of benzodiazepines is contingent upon at least monthly case management sessions to determine compliance and clinical effectiveness. Our case managers are highly educated and empathetic advocates for your best psychological well-being, and have provider supervision and are also in constant contact with our psychiatrist as care extenders.
